The well dressed cat (yes, I’m one of THOSE people)
Today’s truth: I like to dress my cats up. Yep. I’m THAT crazy cat lady. There are the tiny antlers purchased last year for a wee bit of kitty Christmas cheer. There have been fancy collars and the threat of cute little sweaters (to which Sweetie says NO.) So imagine my delight when I saw THIS in my email inbox this morning, via my daily Etsy emails (you get those right? If you don’t, you really really should!)…
Yep. That’s right. A swanky little hat for my sexy little cats. (Rhyming quite deliberate, albeit awful, btw.) Courtesy of CatAtelier. I actually squealed just a little when I saw it. The little poorboy cap is absolutely perfect in every way. And the model has a certain je-ne-sais-quoi about him (a look that says, “oui, c’est vrai – je rock ce chapeau. Tu donne moi un poisson?”)
(PS – for anyone who is actually fluent in French, please pardon any grammatical errors above – grade 12 French class was a looong time ago.)
Also available through CatAtelier is this sweet little white beret…
It’s fully-lined for those extra chilly winter mornings at the front window. The matching scarf is also avail. Of course. :)
And to satisfy your cat’s inner James Bond, there’s always this untied tuxedo collar…
Kitty. James Kitty. Catnip; shaken, not stirred.
So will I be purchasing a fancy little herringbone cap (or a lovely white beret, or a super cool tuxedo collar) for my kitty crew? Likely not. Given that I haven’t yet played dress-up with the new kittens, I’m not sure if they’d really be into it (although don’t doubt that I really do plan to try!) And at $68 for the sweet little cap, that’s a bit more than I’d spend on an accessory that will likely get shaken off within about 30 seconds (cats are a bit houdini-like when it comes to quickly removing a hat/fancy collar/pair of miniature antlers…)
But I can dream of cats in herringbone caps, can’t I? Just think of how adorable dear Irwin would look in a little poorboy cap…
Yep. That’s his “please don’t dress me up mom” look, I’m pretty sure. Little does he know, there’s only four more months to go until the antlers come out. He’d make the cute little reindeer methinks. :)

Well we’re all in the mood for a melody (particularly from a prettily-painted piano)
When I graduated from University with my music degree (totally seemed like a good idea at the time btw! Not at ALL practical in the real world however…) (ah, hindsight…) my parents bought me a piano as a graduation gift. I lived in a tiny little apartment at the time (apparently minature abodes are something I’m unknowingly drawn toward) so they bought me a digital piano (which, while being smaller/lighter than an actual piano, still feels and sounds like a large instrument. Quite brilliant!) It’s followed me around from apartment to house to house and now resides in our (spoiler alert!: soon to be painted!) back room. It’s not the ideal spot for it, but it’s the only place it fits right now, and this is where it’s lived for the past year.
The problem? Despite feeling/sounding like a piano, it’s not overly… pretty. It’s functional without the “fun.” It’s melodious but not merry. It’s plunky but missing the funky.
And then, yesterday, I found this post…
…via Pop of Pretty, and I’ve gotta admit, I’m seriously jonesing for a full sized REAL piano now. And not just any piano. After a bit more research (facilitated by my good buddies at Pinterest) I’ve decided that I desperately need a turquoise piano…
Adore adore and adore somemore. Amazing eh? C/O Kristi at Addicted 2 Decorating. :)
And then I saw this lemony-beauty and exclaimed (out loud, and with gusto): well hello, yellow…
Happiest piano ev-ver, from the cheery folk at Bake @ 350. If I had a yellow piano, I’d sit at it every day. I might not actually play it every day, but I’d sit and look at it adoringly and likely smile a whole lot too. :)
And seriously? How fantastically fun is this…
I’m not normally a green person (does that make sense? Likely not) but this kelly keyboard from Design Mom totally makes me giddy.
And then there’s this elegant lady in white…
…from a fine faux-ivory-loving flickring fan. :) I might be in love. (Insert ginormous enamoured sigh here.)
Yes. I would looooove a painted piano. Mine is just so… dreary by comparison. Don’t believe me? See for yourself…
Can I get a dramatic “dun dun dun?” Thanks. Yup. You’ve entered Drearyville, population 5 (that’s five, including me, Sweetie, two cats and one digital keyboard.)
Sadly, we have neither the budget nor the space for a lovely (and much longed-after!) full-sized instrument at the moment. However, I haven’t given up all hope of having a pretty piano. No siree bob! Why? Because I found this…
…from the folk at The Junk in our Trunks and realized that while no, I probably shouldn’t paint my digital piano, I could possibly add a decal or two to fancy it up a bit… Maybe not a ginormous poppy, per se, but a pretty little decal couldn’t hurt, eh?
And so off I go to hang out with the nice people at Etsy in the hopes of finding a piano-worthy decal. Something flowery would be cute, non? (Again, ixnay on the giant poppy!) Or something graphic could be super fun… And poof! Suddenly I’m way more excited about my dreary little piano than I’ve been in years. My university profs would be so proud! And possibly a little shocked (I don’t know how they’d view my desire to piano-primp.) But mostly they’d be proud. Maybe. I think. :)

A quick post just to show off what arrived yesterday for my laundry room (yeppers – that little closet of a room gets art and everything!)
How perfectly laundry-room-ish eh? Can’t wait to put this on the wall (once the shelves are up and stuff – my replacement washer is coming today I think [yay!], so hopefully shelves will go up next week!) Purchased from etsy-seller honeytree (did I mention I’m an etsy addict?) just a few days ago (click here for more of her work!) shipping was crazy super fast, and it was packaged sooo nicely. This is what I was greeted with when I opened the envelope…
So simple, but so cute. I almost didn’t want to tear into that little kraft-paper-tape heart (but I did.) :) Now I just have to find the perfect laundry-room-art frame for my pretty little print!
(Aside: I never thought I’d get so excited about my laundry room. I think this might mean that I’m officially grown up. Or just weird.)
Happy Friday! :)
